Mystery Unit

I don't know about you, but I sure love to get wrapped up in a good mystery book.  As it turns out so do my sweet second graders.  :)  This week we launched a new unit all about the literary genre ~ mystery!  We've been reading Cam Jansen books during reading groups and boy are they page turners.  If you are looking for a good series to get hooked on I recommend checking these out from the local library.

On a side note...as a result of this genre study, the "recess reports" have been especially juicy! Ha! We've had ladybug mysteries (the clues were found in the leaves), the mystery of who threw the rocks (why does Mrs. Gigi suspect me?  There was no evidence...I have an alibi...), and there have even been reports that someone has been framed!  Gasp!  These kids crack me up I tell ya'.   But hey, they are clearly retaining the vocabulary which makes me... one. happy. teacher. :)
