Ocean Zones

Here we are in our yellow submarine going down, down, down to explore the ocean's depths!

                                

Today we finished our ocean zones project!  (Countdown...14 days till open house I am a teacher on a mission!) To kick off this lesson we read two fantastic books (Wish for a Fish All About Sea Creatures and Down, Down, Down) and watched a Brain Pop Jr. video.  After familiarizing ourselves with the ocean's four zones we watercolored the flap book shown below to represent our knowledge.  Inside each flap we wrote the characteristics special to that zone.  Then the students researched animals that can be found in each zone and illustrated them under the corresponding flap.

Excellent job by my favorite oceanographers!
